How to rotate PDF pages
- Drop a PDF on the box above or click Choose a PDF. A thumbnail of every page appears and all pages start out selected.
- Choose the pages to turn. Click thumbnails to select or deselect them, use Select all, Odd pages or Even pages, or type a range such as
1-3, 5, 8-and press Select these pages. - Press Rotate left 90°, Rotate right 90° or Rotate 180°. The selected thumbnails turn straight away so you can check the result, and a label shows the angle added to each page. You can press the buttons repeatedly or choose other pages and rotate those differently.
- Click Save rotated PDF and download
yourfile-rotated.pdf. Your original file is not changed.
Everything runs in your browser, so your document is never uploaded. There is no sign-up, watermark or limit on the number of files.
How the rotation is stored
Every page of a PDF has a rotation setting: 0°, 90°, 180° or 270° clockwise. Viewers and printers apply it when they draw the page. This tool changes that setting and nothing else: the page content is not redrawn, converted or compressed. That is why text stays selectable, searchable and sharp, links keep working, and bookmarks and form fields remain in place. A page that was already turned 90° and that you rotate another 90° ends up at 180°; two opposite turns cancel out and the page returns to how it was.
Worked example
You scanned a 10-page document on a feeder scanner, and the pages from 4 to 7 came through sideways, with their tops pointing left. Click Select none, then click thumbnails 4, 5, 6 and 7 (or type 4-7 and press Select these pages) and press Rotate right 90°. The four thumbnails stand upright and show "90°"; the other six are untouched. After saving, the file has ten pages and every viewer shows pages 4 to 7 upright. If a double-sided stack has all the back pages upside down, choose Even pages and rotate by 180°.
When to use which rotation
- Rotate right 90° (clockwise) turns a page that lies on its left side upright.
- Rotate left 90° (counter-clockwise) fixes a page that lies on its right side.
- Rotate 180° fixes upside-down pages, typical for the reverse side of a double-sided scan.
- Landscape tables inside a portrait document can be turned to read comfortably on screen, or turned back before printing.
Tips
- Check the thumbnails before saving: they show each page in its new rotation.
- Undo all rotations puts every page back to its starting angle if you want to start again.
- Long documents. Thumbnails are drawn for the first 300 pages. Later pages show only their number but can still be selected and rotated.
- Password-protected PDFs have to be unlocked in a PDF viewer first, because they cannot be read without the password.
- Need to reorder or delete pages too? Use the Organize PDF tool, which can also move and remove pages.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The pages are previewed and rotated in your browser, and the new file is saved on your device.
Can I rotate only some pages?
Yes. Click page thumbnails to select them, or use Odd pages, Even pages or type a range such as 1-3, 5. The rotate buttons only turn the selected pages.
Is the rotation permanent?
Yes. The new PDF stores each page's rotation, so every viewer, printer and program shows the pages the way you set them. Your original file is not changed.
Does rotating reduce quality or remove text?
No. Only the page's rotation setting changes; nothing is redrawn or compressed. Text stays selectable, and links, bookmarks and form fields are kept.
How do I fix a scan where some pages are sideways?
Select the sideways pages (for example by clicking them in the thumbnails) and press Rotate right or Rotate left until they look upright. Pages you did not select stay as they are.
